Marc Foster (pictured) was set to bring David Fisher’s book ‘The War Magician’ to the big screen back in 2012. Now, it’s finally made it to production with no director announced but starring Benedict Cumberpatch – who is also listed as producer.

Adapted by Gary Whitta (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) from David Fisher’s book of the same name,War Magician tells the story of Jasper Maskelyne, a British illusionist who assembled a team known as the Magic Gang to use prestidigitation to help the Allies confound the Nazis.

Benedict will be appearing in another “magic themed” movie in 2016, an animated film called MAGIK
